This page explains how Proper Kanji makes money. We would rather you hear it from us than work it out yourself.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may receive a commission from the seller. You never pay more because of it — the commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your wallet.

We only link to things we would recommend without a commission. If that ever stops being true, this site is not worth running.

Products we sell ourselves

We also sell our own designs. When a page links to something we make and profit from directly, we say so on that page. Treat those recommendations with the skepticism they deserve — we are not a neutral party about our own products, and pretending otherwise would be insulting.

What we do not do

• We do not accept payment for a positive opinion. Nobody can buy a favourable mention here.
• We do not write sponsored posts disguised as editorial. If a piece is paid for, it will say so at the top, not in a footnote.
• We do not change a kanji recommendation to sell more. The character we suggest is the character we would suggest to a friend.
